Our March Meeting With Jim Coletta

Collier County Commissioner Jim Coletta was our guest speaker for our March meeting. Jim has vast knowledge on how our Collier County government works, what is right and what needs to be done.
Coletta explained that the county is operating with an eighty million dollar loss of revenues because of the reduction in property values since this last recession began. The county has had to curtail services and reduced nearly 25% of it's workforce.
Coletta stressed that the need for more industry is sorely needed to provide employment and to keep talent here in Southeast Florida. Coletta did state he and others are working on a 5 year plan in the hope of attracting firms who create much needed jobs. He answered many questions on where we are going forward and why things are what they are presently. He would like to see the extension north of 951 and perhaps someday it will go as far as the RSW airport.
Jim Coletta has been and still is a great friend to Habitat For Humanity and has helped the Collier chapter of Habitat to become the largest in the world.

We are certainly grateful to have Jim here to inform our club on what's going on in Collier County.
