Thank you to all mentors who participated in the AVID program. Students from Immokalee High School, who aspire to attain a college degree, spent a few hours with their mentor and concluded the day with a brunch in the clubhouse.
The students arrived with smiles and they were all so delightful and polite.
Jack Bream brought the idea to Vanderbilt and Cathi Hughes deserves much credit for the day's program which consisted of talks by Joe Newell, Andy Costa, Stuart Bothe, Ronnie Hilburn, John Laliberte, Mitchell Excell, Fanny Bustamonte, Cathi Hughes, Bill Coper and James Briggs (Collier County AVID Grant Manager). All speakers shared their life experiences and how they worked to attain the positions through hard work and education.
We hope that the students returned home with fond memories of their time here at Vanderbilt.
All those who participated said they look forward to doing this next year.
